Fundamentally, all of studies which have ever been studied by human being have to give benefits to himself and also for everybody (developing technology).In our assumptions especially for the students, knowledge known as a thing which have to be remembered in their memory, until knowing deeply about that concept in order that they can do their exam successfully.
More than just a theorem, knowledge is information, understanding and skills gained through education and experience. But, now we are still confused with the use of knowledge itself.
Right now people assume that education is an expensive thing to get. This is not 100% suitable with the fundamental of knowledge where knowledge has to be shared to each other and become a charity or social action.
Well, chemistry isn’t always talking about the Lewis atom structure, longest chain of heptanes and the other boring chapter. More than just a science, chemistry offers us so many benefit if we can mastering it, because chemistry is related too close to our life and it has so many link in the aspect of life. Chemistry takes a big action in our life, from household that we use, food which we eat everyday until great technology to convert the using of fuel.
Chemistry is very useful for developing food technology, for example coke. Coke that we drink everyday was made by carbonization process, its mean coke contain carbonate (CO3) and the carbonate itself will be reach the balance position when they react successfully with the calcium inside our body (CaCO3). So we can easily lose our calcium inside our bone, hair, even teeth. Risky thing, right? So it’s become our challenge to develop coke in same tastes but it doesn’t disturb our health and this thing can be learned in chemistry.
Everybody everywhere and anytime always needs fuel. But now the stock of the fuel itself is decreasing. From this thing we got a lot of problems such as we can’t be mobile, PLN couldn’t supply the electricity demand, even it can make a war to find out the oil sources. And luckily, there was a discovery of ethanol as the substitute of fuel. To make ethanol we don’t need expensive substance, but what we need here are plant oils, oilseed crops, sugar or cellulose till the waste of farm. It is not hard, isn’t it? At the basic point ethanol has decency like as the alternative energy, as the substitution of petroleum in a stove, as the substitution of fuel, environmental friendly (recycle), cheap, easy to get and there are more. So here is the real example of science which is useful and gives benefit to the human being.
One more little example about the useful science which is applied in Chemistry is the superwoman Marie Curie. Marie Curie is one of Nobel Prize winners and is also the best actress in a chemistry theatrical popular drama. This woman can do a scientific research with high quality. Her life gives an urgent contribution in Chemistry.
Starting from Faculte de Sciences Universitas Sorbonne, France, she started to have a research to find the phenomenon of X-ray. In her second noble prize, she was successful after her discovering polonium and radium. On this occasion, she becomes more popular. For her success Harding gives her a gram of pure radium as US$100,000.
For the end of my writing, I’d like to ask you to love chemistry, to understanding about chemistry, and mastering of Chemistry. Never be afraid with chemistry since
